6 Reasons to Love Siberian Cats:
Siberian cats is a healthy breed.
Like most aboriginal breeds, whose formation took place with minimal human intervention in selection and mainly under the influence of natural selection. Siberian cats have one of the highest life expectancies - 17-20 years.
Siberian cats are big and fluffy
Siberian cats theoretically belong to the "middle weight category", that is, not to large breeds, but many cats weigh about 8 kg, therefore, a "fat cat" slightly exceeding the allowance for transportation in the cabin of the aircraft may simply belong to a large breed. “In the Ussuriysk Territory and the Amur Region, there have been cases of domestic cats born of kittens from forest cats, which, growing up, became large wild-colored animals weighing 8-10 kg.
The undercoat of “Siberian women” is also water-repellent, that is, it does not get wet - therefore, the version that there were some Norwegian forest cats is also legitimate: the two breeds are similar to many. By the summer, Siberian cats shed half of their luxurious fur coat, so they need to be combed out, especially during the period of active molting. The breed standard provides for a long, thick, soft, silky coat, a “collar” around the neck and “pants” on the hind legs, as well as a fluffy tail.
Siberian cats are independent but smart and dedicated
Ask any owner of a Siberian cat about her intelligence - and you will hear a lot of amazing things. They understand what can and cannot be, they are not intrusive, but at the same time they love to be around and watch what the owner is doing. By the way, breeders insist: representatives of the breed are devoted first of all to the owner, and then to the house. And some owners note the harsh protective qualities of "Siberians": they are very wary of strangers in the house and often warn the family about their appearance, for which they have earned the fame of cats with a canine character.
Siberian cats are incredibly beautiful
With their large sizes, Siberian cats are not only spectacular, but very graceful, and the variety of their colors is impressive - everything is allowed except chocolate, lilac, their derivatives and Abyssinian tabby. However, the most common is the black tabby color, but more and more often there are black spotted, red tortoiseshell, marble, chinchilla, silvery, gold, white and other handsome "Siberians", and the sister breed - the Neva Masquerade cat - has a point "Siamese color". Not all felinological organizations recognize this breed as a separate one, although it differs not only in the point coat color, but also in the bright blue color of the eyes.
Siberian cats are playful and catch mice.
Siberians are an active and playful breed, enjoying games like fetch and learning tricks that stimulate them mentally. They are considered to be the most "dog-like" breed of cat because of their playfulness and deep bonds with their owners. Siberian cats love to play with water and gets along well with other pets and children - they are the perfect family cat!
Like representatives of all aboriginal breeds, Siberian cats are tireless hunters, and playing for them is an opportunity to realize hunting behavior at home, where there are no mice or birds. They play tirelessly - the owners need to be ready for this. But it is impossible to get bored with such a cat! The ideal conditions for keeping a Siberian cat is a country house with a safe fenced area, but not self-walking.
Siberian cats are hypoallergenic
A key reason for why Siberians have become the preferred cat breed for families is that they can be enjoyed by everyone, including those with allergies towards cats. Siberian cats are actually considered "hypoallergenic" because their skin produces less of the chemical associated with cat allergies (Fel-d1) than other breeds of cats. It is a cat breed that some claim 75 percent of allergy sufferers do not react to. Scientific research has shown that even the males of this breed, who produce way more of the most common allergen than females, produce only a fraction of that protein compared to regular cats. They produce significantly less of the allergen Fel D 1, which is the main protein people tend to have reactions to. Yes, reactions are certainly still possible, but way less likely. We also allow people with allergy to come to spend a little time with our cats before making any commitment to an informal, personal allergy test.
